This is known issue that is caused by KB3045999: The application was unable to load a required virtual machine component. Please contact the publisher of this application for more information. However even despite uninstalling this security update, the issue returned with one of other recent security updates. Does anyone know which one it might have been (past 2 months I guess)?

Is there anyway to work around this problem apart from uninstalling another security update? I have some legacy apps that I know I won't get updates for them but I need them to run occasionally.

I have the same program on an old laptop and haven't connected to the internet for a long time so have not had any updates and it is working fine. I contacted Ancestry,com who have suggested that this is not an issue with Ancestry but rather with recent updates made by Microsoft and a recent Windows Patch.I have the same program on a laptop and haven't connected to internet for some time so no updates have been done. Copied program from laptop to Desktop pc ( both Windows 7) again but then I'm getting another message saying that the program hadn't closed properly and need to compact last file, this file FTM file. Windows could not find program to open it or solution.
